Pre-wedding and post-wedding events are an important part of the story, especially for destination weddings, because guests have traveled near and far to celebrate with you. For an entire weekend I’m able to document you surrounded by all of your favorite people. WEDDING DAY TIP!! Parents and siblings of the bride and groom…This post is for you! Want to know my best wedding day tip? Stay together during big moments (dances, cake cutting, exit) and put down your phone. Why? Because you probably don’t want to be captured in the background of images of the bride and groom with a phone in front of your face.

Family members of the couple should stand together to watch dances undistracted. It’s only 7 minutes of the entire day and guests will understand that these are important moments you don’t want to miss. You’ll have the rest of the night to visit with them. Also, if you’ve hired a professional photographer and videographer, you don’t need to document everything on your phone. It’s best to be in the moment. When I go through images from each wedding, it’s very rare that I’m able to capture the first dances with family in the background standing together, everyone watching and smiling adoringly, without holding a phone. Oh, but when I do, it’s magic!
