Several months ago I had the opportunity to photograph a day in the life of Chris Janson and family at their farm here in Franklin, TN, then later that evening backstage before his performances at the Grand Ole Opry. Kelly and Chris Janson were kind and gracious hosts as we spent all day on their land, in their home and in their dressing room at the Opry getting a peek inside their life as country music artist and manager juggling celebrity life with real life.
Watching Chris and his son Jesse fish together reminded me of something my husband has always told me about his time hunting with our son…”The outdoor lifestyle is never just about the activity. So many real and meaningful conversations about life happen around a pond, in a field and in the woods.” It was clear that his outdoor experiences greatly influence and feed his creativity as an artist. It was a pleasure to see more of his story through my lens.
Don’t miss the behind the scenes video of our shoot on the Janson farm at the end of this post. Such Good Vibes and a fun day on the job! Thanks to the fine folks at Covey Rise for the assignment. It’s a privilege to have my images in such a beautiful publication.
Here’s a Behind The Scenes video from our cover story shoot at the Janson family farm in Franklin, TN.
Who doesn’t love a dinner party at home? There’s just something extra special about it. No dealing with the noise and crowds of a restaurant, relaxing on the sofa around a fire, designing a unique table, crafting the cocktails and food menu, choosing your own playlist, and treating your dearest friends to a night created just for them. Molly Sohr of The Cedarlane designed a modern black, white table with ghost chairs and greenery with magnolia leaves by Elle Worsham of Gracious Garlands. Yes, it’s the holidays, but this table could be used for any winter gathering. Enjoy some inspiration for your own entertaining at home.
I met Dawn Ann through a mutual friend. She’s this super cool, urban cowgirl with her own flair and spin on refined western style. She’ll even trick out your Louis Vuitton by adding some fringe.
Dawn Ann recently moved to Nashville from their ranch in Montana, with her musician husband and their daughter. Dawn Ann, a model and actress, owns Moo Country in Red Lodge, Montana and just just opened her second store here in historic Leipers Fork, Tennessee. Much of what she sells are her own designs. Check out a few items from Moo Country featured in the gift guide in the current issue of Nashville Lifestyles Magazine [December 2018].
It was a pleasure photographing this stunning 12,000 square foot French Regency, Belle Meade estate designed by the late Nashville architect, Edwin A. Keeble. You can see the interior of this beautiful home in a previous issue of Nashville Lifestyles and on my blog post here. Now, take in this home’s amazing outdoor living spaces designed by the talented Gavin Duke of Page Duke Landscape Architects, and featured in the spring/summer 2018 issue of Nashville Lifestyles At Home and on the cover. No doubt this home was designed for entertaining.
Hand sewn garments, quality focused, responsibly produced, rich in tradition, and created in Alabama. THIS was a fun project to shoot. If you ever find yourself near Florence, Alabama, stop by the Alabama Chanin factory, browse their organic garments and home goods, then sit down for a bite of lunch at The Factory Café. So much southern goodness created by Natalie Chanin, right there in my home state. Read the full story in the current issue of Birmingham Weddings Magazine.
The process…pretty fascinating.

Savage Interior Design, was recently named Best Design Firm by the Nashville Lifestyles’ Home Awards, and I was able to see Jonathan Savage’s incredible talent first hand, while shooting one of the Brentwood Homes he designed. The images of this lovely home are featured in the current issue and on the cover of Nashville Lifestyles At Home magazine.
It’s a real testament to Nashville and its friendly, welcoming and encouraging creative community, that I was given the opportunity to shoot my first cover for one of Music City’s magazines after living here only 8 months. I’ve always enjoyed shooting editorial work, especially for my home town. It’s such a great way to really get to know the city where you live work and play and the people and places that make it unique.
Be sure to pick up a copy of Nashville At Home on newsstands to read the story about this Brentwood beauty.
