Caroline & Daniel [Vestavia Country Club, Birmingham AL]

Caroline and Daniel’s wedding was planned to perfection by Anita Kanellis of AK Brides. She curated elements of southern charm, sophistication and gorgeous floral design by Carol Riley of Lillie’s, to create a beautiful day for this fun couple who met at The University of Alabama. You can see their Tuscaloosa Engagement Session here.

From her blush Badgley Mischka shoes and her “something old” emerald estate ring to her exquisite “something new” Augusta Jones gown from Carriage House Weddings, Caroline was a lovely southern bride with so much grace and beauty.

A few sweet takeaways from the day…Caroline’s relationship with her mother was a precious one to watch, her bridesmaids were best friends that rejoiced and celebrated every single detail that excited Caroline about her wedding day, and finally, Daniel and Caroline are the truest of romantics. That will serve them so well in their married life.

Best wishes for a lifetime of health and happiness for the Harbaughs. Thank you for choosing me to be a part of your day!

(Forgive the lengthiness of this post. I loved this wedding and all of its blissful moments.)

Springhouse Restaurant Wedding, Lake Martin [Inspiration Shoot]

This wedding inspiration shoot was inspired by the rich colors of an antique Italian painting — golds, azure blues, deep browns, burnt orange and reds. The modern but traditional European rustic architecture of Springhouse Restaurant was the perfect setting with its stone, wood and timber construction.

The bride wears a Monique Lhuillier three piece gown featuring a strapless sweetheart corset adorned with Chantilly lace. The corset is complimented with a removable caplet appliquéd with Chantilly lace and a hand draped trumpet skirt that flows into a beautiful chapel length train. The groom’s luxurious velvet tuxedo jacket is by Hugo Boss from Saks Fifth Avenue.

All florals include a variety of rich pink and gold garden roses, peonies, ranunculus, wheat stems and deep blue thistle. Additional texture and depth of color is added with cranberry cockscomb, pepper berry, amaranthus alongside several foraged varieties of greenery. Silk and willow cranberry ribbon is used on the grooms bout. Streaming taupe and blue silk and willow ribbons are combined with a beaded vintage Italian ribbon on the brides bouquet. The simple wedding cake is adorned with with creeping ficus, foraged abelia pods, and ranunculus.

An al fresco dining table is set with LaTavolas cut velvet damask kings drape linen, vibrant florals in rust Italian urns and traditional X back farm chairs. The table settings are classic Italian wares — gorgeous gold Arte Italica stemware and Richard Ginori estate dinnerware. Wax seals, vintage antique postage stamps and Roman numerals add an Italian touch to the paper goods. Springhouse’s renowned wine cellar and wine tasting turrent are featured as an additional location for the bride and groom’s wedding celebration. It’s also from where they make their departure.

Such loveliness! I hope you enjoy the images and get inspired for your own wedding day details!

Emily & Clayton’s Birmingham Wedding

Emily & Clayton’s was the first wedding I’ve photographed at Covenant Presbyterian Church, which is the church where I got married 18 years ago and where my kids attended preschool. It’s such a special place to our family and being there felt like coming home. From the lovely hand calligraphy on the invitations, to Emily’s gorgeous ring and the belted tulle layer of her dress…everything was simply gorgeous. After the ceremony I had the privilege of capturing this beautiful couple at Railroad Park with the city skyline rising behind them just before sunset, and ending the night at B&A Warehouse. There was an amazing team of vendors, including wedding gown by Olia Zavozina and Bridesmaids dresses by Monique Lhuillier from Carriage House Weddings, floral design by Lillie’s, and cakes by Edgar’s Bakery…just to name a few. Here are the images to tell the rest of their wedding day story.
