I loved getting to know Mary Wesley and Bradley and their family from their engagement to their classic wedding day. And, since we are all University of Alabama alums, we bonded over fun college memories and football.
Mary Wesley and Bradley’s classic southern wedding was a dream and they looked at each other so sweetly all day long, fully invested in every moment together. This translated into me being able to create incredibly authentic images of their wedding day, beginning at The Tutwiler Hotel, to Mary Wesley’s parents’ ranch to Cathedral of the Advent and finally The Club. Their day was flawless. And, Mary Wesley looked absolutely regal in her 2-piece gown by Martina Liana from Ivory & White. She was able to have two different looks by just removing the lace bodice worn for the ceremony to reveal a simpler sweetheart neckline with banded waist.
M.Elizabeth Events and AG Event Design wow’d guests, transforming the ballroom for the reception at The Club. It boasted florals in shades of white with greenery, and so many orchids! Greige linen seating areas encouraged guests to sit, relax and stay a while. Mirrored tables reflected light from the flickering candles and offered a resting spot for drinks.
I’m so excited to share this October wedding with you. It was a sweet, southern stunner! And…sometimes in this industry we feel pressured to show only the pretty, perfectly styled images. I do love those (alot), but there’s SO much more to the story… family, friendships, laughter, hugs, tears, joy…that’s what wedding days are all about. Relationships and moments are what you want to remember and treasure for years to come. That’s what I want to share…the complete story. YOUR story.
(Sorry, not sorry for the lengthy blog post. I couldn’t help it. Let’s just say that when it comes to images, I’m better at novels than Cliff’s notes. ;))
Katie is full of life, with an energy and enthusiasm that is contagious. What else would you expect from a former University of Alabama Crimsonette? She kinda floats around with her head held high, and you smile a lot when you are around her. And, Matt, the University of Alabama law student…he adores Katie! Sometimes he just gazes at her and other times he looks at her with this amused little grin on his face. It’s obvious he loves her spirit and spunk. His personality perfectly compliments hers too. Matt is more reserved and is okay with just hanging back observing while Katie is the life of the party. They really are the cutest couple!
Handley Breaux Designs planned this amazing wedding and Katie and I had an immediate connection at our first meeting over coffee. She LOVES photography and wanted it all…an Engagement Session, Bridal Session and a wedding day full of images. She even had some fun ideas of her own. As you will see, the details matter to Katie and she wanted to take the time to capture them. We got along splendidly.
Did I mention that at one time Katie worked in the Gus Mayer Shoe Salon? This girl loves some shoes…especially Christian Louboutin heels. In fact, there was a collection of Louboutin shoes and Burberry rain boots in the brides room for her to choose from on her wedding day, which called for a high chance of rain. I prayed that the rain would hold off because Katie had dreamed of having all outdoor photos, with only her First Look in the sanctuary. God answered that prayer. We only had a short sprinkle while we were driving from one location to the next for wedding party portraits. It cleared and we even had a minute or two of sunshine for Katie and Matt’s portraits at the scenic overlook in Vestavia.
I’ll let the images tell the rest of the story. And, I apologize in advance for the length of this post, but it was an 11 hour wedding day full of fun. It was just too hard to leave out some of Katie and Matt’s story. And, you don’t want to miss the reception at Vestavia Country Club, where the bride’s cake was suspended from the ceiling and her Crimsonette friends performed a few of their dances and the Alabama fight song. Roll Tide! Best wishes you two!
Katie was a dream to work with! From our very first meeting at Starbucks, to she and Matt’s Engagement Session at Morris Avenue and Railroad Park, then finally at their amazing wedding and reception at Vestavia Country Club, she knew exactly what she wanted. And she has such a fun, vivacious personality with a confident and contagious energy! You’ll see in her images. I wanted to be friends with her the minute I meet her!
Katie is a also a former University of Alabama Crimsonette, so she floats, twirls and moves in a way that dancers naturally do…and with her amazing 2-piece Martina Liana gown with layered skirt, we did lots of twirling. This tiny dancer was a stunning bride! Planner: Handley Breaux Designs | Wedding Gown: Martina Liana from Ivory & White Bridal Shop.
As always, Invision Events did an amazing job planning every detail of Shannon & Joe’s Auburn wedding and I’m thrilled they asked me to capture this beautiful day. Jule Smith Collins Museum of Fine Art quickly became one of my favorite Auburn venues. It is such a beautiful space inside and out! And, as you will see in the images, Lisa Thorne of Thorne & Thistle outdid herself on the exquisite florals. It was a lovely day down on the plains celebrating Shannon and Joe becoming husband and wife.
