Beautiful Homewood Remodel by Twin Construction [Featured in Birmingham Home & Garden magazine May/June 2017]

It’s always a pleasure to shoot for my friends at Twin Construction in Birmingham, AL. This home was especially fun to photograph, since I know Rachael, the owner and love her personal style. Laurie Fulkerson, interior designer for Twin, did an exceptional job capturing and bringing Rachel and Dax’s style and personalities into the details of the home design. My favorite elements? The incredible black crocodile wallpaper in the study (slight obsession), the luxurious blue velvet sofas in the living room, the butlers pantry filled with natural light, the steel folding doors that open the dining room onto the screened porch for indoor/outdoor entertaining and finally the perfectly organized master bedroom closet with lighted shelving. There’s so much more…Pick up a copy of Birmingham Home & Garden to read the story behind this amazing Homewood (Edgewood) remodel.

Newly Goods [Nashville Lifestyles Magazine, February 2017]

Newly, is a Nashville based eCommerce venture created by five local entrepreneurs. Their home products are 100% recycled with clean and modern styling. I photographed the owners and some of their products for an article in Nashville Lifestyles Magazine‘s February 2017 issue. I’m thrilled to be shooting for my new hometown magazine after living here for only 6 months and grateful for the opportunity to get to know Nashville even better through my lens.

You can read more about Newly’s mission in the article here.HDP-NL-Newly-12_-WEB.jpgHDP-NL-Newly-8.jpgHDP-NL-Newly-18_-WEB.jpgHDP-NL-Newly-21_-WEB.jpgHDP-NL-Newly-26_-WEB.jpgHDP-NL-Newly-28_-WEB.jpgHDP-NL-Newly-1.jpg

Homewood Cottage by Twin Construction [Featured in B Metro, September 2016 Issue]

It’s always a privilege to shoot a Twin Construction home…they are such great people, who do quality work and have fun while they are doing it. I’m always inspired and walk away wanting to use some elements in my own home…whether it’s unique hardware, gorgeous paint colors, interesting light fixtures or sleek modern lucite counter stools, there’s always a “take home” idea. It’s all in the details. This beautiful Homewood, Alabama cottage is no exception and it’s featured in the September issue of B Metro Magazine. Enjoy!

Mallory Smith Interiors’ Personal Home [Published Birmingham Magazine, Feb 2016]

Mallory is a personal friend, so when I received the assignment to photograph her home for the February issue of Birmingham Magazine, I immediately texted her with my excitement of getting to catch up with her while I was behind the camera. Not only is Mallory an extremely talented interior designer with exquisite taste in antiques, she is a beautiful person inside and out.

Here are some of my favorite images of Mallory, her Inverness home and her lovely family.

Holiday Fashion & Cocktails Shoot [Published Birmingham Magazine, December 2015]

Recently I purchased a new strobe lighting system to add to my arsenal of equipment for editorial and commercial work. Loved putting it to work for the first time on this holiday fashion and cocktails shoot for Birmingham Magazine. Special thanks to new The Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook, AL for allowing us to shoot in their amazing hotel.

Dram Whiskey Bar [Published in The Local Palate, November 2015 Issue]

My husband Brad and I often escape together for date nights over a drink and good meal at Avo Restaurant and Dram Whiskey Bar. The owners have been family portrait clients of mine for years, so when they asked me to shoot some images for Dram, I quickly agreed. It was fun to turn my camera on a favorite local spot. And, one of the images was published in the November issue of The Local Palate, the south’s premier food culture magazine, based in one of my very favorite southern cities, Charleston.  Chef Jeremy Ashby picked Dram as one of the top Southern spots for Bourbon. Congrats!

On another personal note, my favorite cocktail at Dram is their signature martini called the Yin-Yang. It’s a deliciously sweet and sour combination of Ketel One, muddled strawberries, balsamic vinegar, and simple syrup. My husband’s favorite is their Moscow Mule. Who’s thirsty?

Twin Construction Owner’s Homewood Home [Published in Birmingham Magazine, October 2015 Issue]

I love shooting homes for Birmingham Magazine and getting ideas for my own home in the process! It was a treat to photograph one of the Twin Construction owner’s personal home in Homewood for the October issue. I loved it’s family friendly floor plan, clean lines and neutral color palette. Men’s Fashion Shoot (Published in Birmingham Magazine, June 2015)

I loved getting to work with stylist and writer, Kerri Bunn, on the June 2015 Men’s Fashion issue of Birmingham Magazine. Kerri and I have worked together before on editorial stories and it’s always a pleasure!

Because this story was about men’s beard grooming, I didn’t want the images to be about the clothes, or eye color, or hair color, but more about the styling and texture of the beards. So, I decided to edit the images as warm tone black and whites.

This was such a fun shoot because the guy models really bought into our vision. We wanted them to play to the camera with their personalities and that’s exactly what they did. We laughed a lot.

It was such a fun surprise that two of the images made it on the cover!
