Leslie-Ann + Ben [Auburn, AL wedding]

Last month I photographed Leslie-Ann and Ben’s wedding in Auburn with my friend Megan Smalley. The wedding was held at a Methodist church on Auburn’s campus and the reception followed at the exquisite Fountainview Mansion. It was a beautiful wedding with beautiful details, but I think my favorite memory from the day was how sweet Leslie-Ann and her bridesmaids were. They were such a pleasure to be with all day and I had the best time getting to know them! And… it was obvious they adore Leslie-Ann. The prayer her cousin said in the bride’s room, right before it was time to walk down the aisle, was a precious gift.

I include a lot of images in my wedding blogs because a wedding is not just the beautifully styled and photojournalistic shots of the bride and groom. Oh, yes, I do love those; but even more, I love the story of their day…the in-between and behind the scene moments. Some of the details, the bride and groom aren’t even fully aware of until they see their photos. I want to tell those details in my images so they can remember them 20, 30, 40 and 50 years from now.

Here are some of the highlights of Leslie-Ann and Ben’s story as I saw it unfold through my lens. It was a lovely, lovely day.

Leslie-Ann’s bridesmaids gave her a scrapbook of memories.

I love these shots of the sweet prayer before the ceremony. Such a meaningful moment among friends and family.

Leslie-Ann wanted to hear her cousin sing right before she walked down the aisle. The bridal party became quiet in the foyer of the church so she could listen and take in that sweet moment.

The guys had a little surprise in store for Ben. Hope his tux pockets were deep because he spent the rest of the ceremony with them filled.

I always love the goodbye and thank you hugs to the parents.

I’m a University of Alabama graduate…so was my husband, my parents and my brother, but I’ve been down on the plains a few times to visit friends when I was in college. I had been away from my kids alot on Saturdays this summer due to shooting weddings; so this time I decided to go a little early and take them along with me so we could have one last hoorah together before school started. When we got to Auburn on Friday, we went to Toomer’s Corner so I could have some Toomer’s lemonade and the kids could have milkshakes. Once we got our treats, we walked over to see the famous trees. Luke was very concerned about the trees and had lots of questions. That night we ate a yummy dinner at Amsterdam’s Cafe. A great big thanks to Megan’s fun sister Mallory for keeping my kids for me all day Saturday while we were shooting the wedding. They had a great time! On Sunday we did a little more exploring and then headed back home to Birmingham. I must say that Auburn has grown and changed a lot since I was in college. The kids and I had a great time on campus…but, we still pull for the team in red! 😉 Here’s a few shots of my kids from our weekend together in Auburn…

Forgive me for this one, but just had to post because it made me laugh since this was unprompted. After this shot we had to have a talk about good sportsmanship and not booing the other team!

Ashley + Brice

Ashley and Brice were married last month at the lovely Sonnet House in Leeds, AL. Jana Sobel of 205 Photography asked me to shoot this wedding with her; and I’m so glad she did, because this is one of the most entertaining weddings I have ever photographed! The groomsmen were an absolute hoot and always doing something for a laugh. Besides it being so much fun, we had beautiful weather, in a beautiful setting with beautiful people. What more could a photographer want?

Here’s a peek at Ashley and Brice’s wedding day through my lens. Best wishes to them for an amazing marriage and life together. I’m sure it will include lots of deep sea fishing!

I absolutely LOVED what the guys wore in this wedding.
Those green striped ties looked amazing with the sprawling green lawn and huge oak trees at this venue…and the suspenders perfectly matched their fun personalities.

And once it got dark and the party really kicked in, there was definitely no parking on the dance floor!

Adrienne + Josh

Adrienne and Josh are serious Auburn fans. Josh was in the band and Adrienne danced. As you will see, they chose to give a few nods to their alma mater at their reception, like Josh’s groom’s cake with the Auburn logo and the orange and blue shakers for guests to shake when they departed. I loved that Adrienne used the color turquoise throughout the reception decor. Wait until you see the bride’s cake and table she came up with because of her love for Tiffany’s. Just beautiful!

Emily Kicklighter and I had a great time shooting this wedding! What a sweet couple!

Melissa + Chris

Last month I photographed Chris and Melissa’s Wedding with Jana Sobel of 205 Photography. Jana is such a sweet person and it’s always fun to shoot with someone new! I loved the fact that she used a Pinterest board for gathering and referencing the shot ideas she had discussed with the bride. I’m such a huge Pinterest fan! It’s a great place to store inspiration, ideas and dreams! I’m storing my dream kitchen there right now and hoping that dream will become a reality in the not-so-distant future! 🙂

It was a beautiful afternoon for Chris and Melissa’s wedding at historic Woodrow Hall with its exposed brick and old architecture. Shirley’s Florist did a beautiful job on the flowers as you will see in the images below. Here are some of the highlights of the day. Hope you enjoy!

I got a little carried away shooting the dress! I loved all the folds in it!

Sneak Peeks of Rita and Michol’s Wedding

My friend Melissa Pardi asked me to shoot a wedding with her a few weeks ago and of course I happily agreed! I love shooting weddings! There is something wonderfully unique about each and every one of them and it’s fun to look for those story-telling images from the day. And, when you capture them it’s a magical moment for a photographer. So, although I don’t have a lot of time to blog right now because I am trying to frantically get Christmas gift prints and Christmas card orders filled for you; I thought I would at least post a few sneak peeks.

One of the unique moments in Rita and Michol’s wedding was the cute nephew who decided in the middle of the ceremony to dance up and down the center aisle. And by dance, I mean break dance  [the worm]. Since a lot of what I do is kids’ photographs, I thought it was adorable and memorable so I had to capture it as part of Rita and Michol’s wedding story. After all, some of the time their back was to all the fun and they missed it. The last photo is of their departure from the reception. I can’t wait to share the rest…soon…

Scott and Allison’s Wedding

Scott and Allison’s wedding was at the charming and very southern Fox and Pheasant Bed and Breakfast in Montevallo, AL. Here are some more of my images as a second shooter for Melissa Pardi Photography. Hope you enjoy!

Allison made all the jewelry for the wedding.

Me taking a shot of Melissa taking a shot! 🙂

It was a record hot day...almost 100 degrees, so his fingers were a little swollen and the ring was hard to get on. 🙂

Showing off his ring finger!

After a long day of shooting, Melissa and I had some fun in the photo booth before we took it down!
