The Cox Kids

When Jennifer emailed me to photograph her beautiful blonds I was so excited! We are “cheer moms” (sigh). Our daughters have cheered together for several years and had a ball! My kids came along with me hoping for a little play time when our session was over. 🙂 Did I mention we were blessed with beautiful rim light? Ahhhhhhh….

The Allen Family

Love this sweet family! We’ve been neighbors, carpool buddies, Sunday school class friends and our kids have been in school together. I’ve watched these adorable children grow up since their oldest, Cade, was five years old. I remember when they were praying for a third and seeing that prayer answered with Charlie. And their daughter Sydney has gone from ringlet curled baby to big girl in just a few short years. I think time passes by more quickly when I see how grown up my friends’ children are because it doesn’t gradually happen in front of my eyes every day as it does with my own. One thing is true, the older these children have gotten, the sweeter they’ve gotten too, and I didn’t think that was possible! They were so sweet already! I enjoyed our afternoon together at the cabin this past fall. Their goal was a great family photo. I think we were successful!

The Crawford Family

This sweet family drove from Tuscaloosa for me to photograph them. When they got to the session and we started chatting, we realized that we have so many mutual friends. I love meeting new people and it’s such a small world, y’all!

The Olis Family

I met Rachel through Children’s Hospital of Alabama and get to work with her when I shoot for them; so I was excited when she asked me to photograph her family this fall. They were my first family of a full day of mini sessions, and what a sweet and beautiful family to start the day with!

Julie and I made the most of an afternoon downtown, mixing it up with B&W studio shots of her kids for a wall gallery and casual family shots on the street. Such a beautiful family inside and out!

Lily’s Senior Portraits at Sloss Furnace and Morris Ave

I met Rhonda last year while photographing an Ovarian Cancer benefit she was hosting. Lily, her daughter, is going to be a Senior in high school this year, so I was excited when Rhonda asked me to do her portraits. After discussing several locations for Lily’s shoot, we decided on Sloss Furnace and Morris Ave…two historical Birmingham landmarks with lots of character. I love iron, steel, old brick, chipped paint, and neat old doors!

We’ve had such an rainy summer, so I was incredibly thankful for sunshine and dreamy light during our early evening together. I had the best time with this mother and daughter duo! Lily is a beautiful girl inside and out, just like her sweet mom! I’m sure she’ll be a bright light in the class of 2014.

More cute kiddos from my sessions in Mississippi [Madison, MS photographer]

I’m gradually getting all my Madison, Mississippi families posted to the blog and I’m excited about sharing this session with you. These kids were so sweet and cooperative, even though our weather was cold and we had to finish our session the next day due to rain. I love what we were able to capture despite the weather! How precious are these blue-eyed, toe-heads?!HDP_0440-copyHDP-2143BW-copyHDP-2197BW-copyHDP-2173BW-copyHDP-2274-copyHDP-2321-copyHDP-2190-copyHDP-2205-copyHDP-2163-copyHDP-2157-copy HDP-2230-copyHDP-2321-copyHDP-2323-copyHDP-2283-copyHDP-2241-copyHDP-2234BW-copyHDP-2249-copyHDP_0937-copy

Mom wanted a few shots in the heirloom outfits they wore in a recent wedding, so they put on their finest to play in this field.

Max & Sam with their Mom & Dad [Madison, MS photographer]

Last time I photographed Max, his mom, Peyton, was expecting baby brother Sam! So, this trip I got to meet little Sam, and what a cutie he is with those big brown eyes! And what a photographer’s dream to just walk out in their backyard and down to their dock for a few shots!  Since Max loves to fish, we had to capture him in his element!

When I got there, Sam was eating a chocolate cookie in his pristine white John John…I was a little nervous, but y’all, the boy didn’t get a drop on him! I was so impressed! The grandparents were also there for a visit; so the first shot I’ll share with you is a sweet moment between Sam (cookie in hand) with his grandfather…

Sam needed a little time to warm up to the camera. I loved this shot of his single tear as his mom was giving him some encouragement.

Definitely a momma’s boy!

Soca Girl Spring/Summer 2013 Fashion Shoot

At the beginning of February, my friends at Soca Girl, a tween fashion boutique in Homewood, AL, partnered with me to do a Casting Call contest on Facebook. Over 100 girls entered our contest and there were 8 winners of various ages chosen to be in our photo shoot.

The weather has been bad all winter…lots of dreary rain and cold, so when the forecast called for sunny, 71 degrees and breezy on our shoot day, I wanted to jump for joy! In fact, I think I did do my own little celebration dance! The shoot took place last weekend and I had a great time getting to know these adorable girls and their moms, who were such a pleasure to work with! I think the girls had a great time too, getting their hair and makeup styled, while prancing around Homewood in the coolest clothes in town! Even the storefront sidewalk got all dressed up for the occasion…
