Sometimes you meet people that you just want to hang out with and listen to their Godly wisdom…and laugh at the imperfect world we live in. I’m so thankful God allowed my path to cross with Rick and Sherri Burgess when they asked me to photograph them with their sons at their family farm.
If you don’t know already by listening to Rick & Bubba, Rick’s talk show on 104.7 WZZK, Rick and Sherri are bold about their faith and encouraging others in their spiritual walk with God. Their new website burgessministries.com is coinciding with the release of Sherri’s new book, Bronner: A Journey to Understand, which is in stores now and available on christianbook.com and amazon.com. When God brought Bronner, Rick and Sherri’s youngest son, into Heaven in 2008, they wanted to know why. Sherri shares what God revealed to them in this Spirit driven book that took five years to write. I know this book will be a blessing to many, whether you’ve lost a child or not.
Here are some of my favorite shots from our afternoon together, and of course, there were some laughs. They really are the nicest folks you’ll ever meet…one word comes to mind…real. Real people. Real struggles. Real joy. Real faith.
