Mary Joyce asked me to shoot her wedding alongside her cousin Russell, a talented L.A. based wedding photographer who flew down south to capture her wedding day at Lake Martin’s Children’s Harbor. It’s always fun to collaborate with other photographers, especially ones from different areas of the country. We exchanged stories about how our shoots are similar and different from the west to the east coast. I know I’m a little bias, but I think Russell fell in love with all of our trees and open spaces here in the south, since he’s used to shooting in more urban settings. He exclaimed about how peaceful it was being in the country and I completely agree. Every single time I’m at the lake, all stress seams to just melt away.
Mary Joyce and Britt met when they were kids, so their wedding day was a beautiful celebration of their already time-tested love. Their color palette of coral and khaki was perfect for a June nuptials! I loved the bridesmaids one shoulder dresses, and the boys looked dapper in their polka dotted bow ties. Mary Joyce and Britt were blessed with sunshine, blue skies and fluffy clouds as they said their vows in the Children’s Harbor Chapel, then moved outside to have their first dance on the dock near the lighthouse. Later, family and guests were treated to lawn games of bocce ball, croquet, ladder golf, horseshoes and corn hole before the bride and groom’s sparkler departure by boat. Such a sweet couple and I enjoyed spending the day with them. Best wishes to these Auburn grads…
