I first met Mary Kathryn and Andrew on the overlook trails at Lake Martin when I was there for a girls’ weekend for my 40th birthday. My friend Jennifer and I decided to go to overlook because we had never seen the lake from that vantage point. It was a beautiful October afternoon and the leaves were changing, so of course I brought along my camera. As Jennifer and I were standing there talking, up from the trails walked the cutest couple. We struck up a conversation, and as we were about to leave I told them I would love to take their photo and email it to them, so I did. They were the sweetest couple and I just couldn’t let beautiful golden light be wasted! Almost one year to the date later, I received a call from Mary Kathryn that she and Andrew were engaged and they wanted me to shoot their wedding. Needless to say, I was thrilled that our serendipitous meeting resulted in me getting to capture their wedding day. And, what a sweet wedding day it was.
The wedding was held on Auburn University’s campus, where Mary Kathryn and Andrew are in school, so they definitely wanted Samford Hall captured in their images. The ceremony was held at the quaint Auburn University Chapel, with the reception on the lawn of Greystone Mansion.
Spending the day with Mary Kathryn, Andrew and their families was such a blessing to me. And, their ceremony was a joyful testimony of the Lord in their lives. I will never forget Andrew’s reaction when he first saw Mary Kathryn walk down the aisle with her father. It was priceless moment.
Best wishes MK and Andrew! “May the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.” – Numbers 6:24-26. Thank you for asking me to capture your wedding day story. It was perfect.
