Last weekend I photographed the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park. I can’t tell you how exhilerating it was to be on the race track just a few feet away from Indy cars racing at you at speeds over 150 miles per hour, with only a guardrail between you if they wreck! I don’t have that hazard photographing kids, families and weddings! In fact, some of the other seasoned Indy shooters were giving me advice on what to do if a wreck starts heading my way. Their advice? “Duck, because the car will go flying over you!” Thanks guys! I feel so much better!
It was a fun weekend with perfect weather and record crowds at a beautiful race park known around the world for its excellence. Even my kids got to join in the fun on the track for Opening Ceremonies, with Miss Alabama and Bo Jackson as the Grand Marshal. I have to say that my job is really, really fun!
Bo Jackson was the Grand Marshal for this year’s race. He also is a sponsor of Justin Wilson’s race car for Bo Bikes Bama.
Bo Jackson introduced as Grand Marshal at the Opening Ceremonies before he took his ride in Honda’s Fastest Seat in Sports, a ride-along in the Honda-sponsored two-seater IndyCar,

Here I am all geared up and ready to roll on Saturday…
And thanks to Butch Dill for capturing me in action on Sunday!
