Thank you all for your sweet messages and Facebook posts after my dear friend Laura’s long 5 year battle with cancer ended last Saturday night. She has now seen the face of Jesus and he has said to her “Well done, my good and faithful servant”.
I introduced you to Laura in August of 2010 on the blog here. If you want to read Laura’s full story and the letters she wrote to her children that will change your life, you can find that on her Caring Bridge site here. If cancer has affected your life in any way, and even if it hasn’t, Laura’s story will surely encourage and challenge you. Please keep the Black family in your prayers.
I shared on Facebook a few days ago just some of the things I learned from Laura in how she lived her life. I’ll share them here too.
Love the Lord and serve him however He calls you.
Authenticity is rare.
Invest in people.
Encourage people to be the best they can be.
Attitude is everything, so have a good one.
Laughter is the best medicine.
Friendship is precious and should be nurtured.
Be intentional with your time.
Don’t complain, everyone is going through something.
The Lord will provide all your needs.
Look for the joy in every difficult circumstance.
Don’t use your trials as an excuse or a crutch.
Keep singing.
Finish strong.
Thank you friend. Well done. You finished strong. I miss you.
