“Tailgating on the Plains, Samford Hall”

I must start out this blog by saying I am a University of Alabama alum and the colors I pull for are Crimson and White. However, it seems like most of Vestavia, where I live, pulls for orange and blue! I’m sharing this blog with you because all of my Auburn friends are still celebrating their 2010 BCS National Championship Title…most of them fresh off a plane from going to Arizona! Talk about some loyal fans!

This morning I went to The Loretta Goodwin Gallery to photograph an oil painting on canvas that the owner, Dirk Walker, recently completed. Dirk is a client, friend and huge Auburn fan who has recently done several works with Auburn University landmarks as his subject matter. One painting, depicting Toomer’s Corner after a win, was just sold to a member of the Board of Trustees at Auburn, while in route to Glendale, AZ for the big game.

The original oil painting I photographed today is “2010 BCS National Champions, Tailgating on the Plains, Samford Hall”. This piece of art is going to be reproduced as a 36″ x 36″ Limited Edition giclee on canvas. It will sell for $400. There will only be a total of 50 in this edition. If you are interested in owning one of these limited edition works art you may contact Dirk at the gallery at 205-328-1761.

What a great painting, Heather! Does he have any prints of his work?

Dirk does original fine art paintings. These limited edition glicees are new for him. I don’t think he is planning to do prints, but you could certainly call and ask him at 205-328-1761.
